Day 1: Hanoi
Arrival in Hanoi. Transfer to hotel. A free evening. Hanoi retains an air of the French colonial period despite wide scale rebuilding after the war. Day 2: Hanoi
Begin your exploration of the capital with the city center, comprised of traditional pagodas and temples, colonial villas, and lakes set along free-lined streets which move at pace much more congenial than HCMC. Visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the One Pillar Pagoda, continue to the Army Museum, nearby Flag Tower, and finish with a taste of classical Vietnamese culture at the Fine Arts Museum and Temple of Literature.

Day 3: Hanoi - Hue
Fly to one of the most beautiful city in Vietnam. Visit the citadel of the city and recall the battle of Hue during the Tet Offensive, when the NVA held the city for three weeks.

Day 4: Hue - Dong Ha
Drive up highway 1; passing Camp Evan and Fire Support Base Nancy; continue to the battle site of Quang Tri. Next pass the site of Ai Tu Combat Base and airfield of the 3rd Division Headquarters of the former South army. Next reach Dong Ha enter the quadrilateral area bordered by Con Tien, Gio Linh, Dong Ha, and Cam Lo which was nicknamed Leatherneck Square during Operation Buffalo. Continue up Highway 1 across the Hien Luong Bridge over the Ben Hai River, which once demarcated North and South Vietnam. Visit the tunnels in Vinh Moc and the Con Tien Fire Support Base before overnight in Dong Ha. Day 5: Dong Ha - Khe Sanh
Ride parallel to the DMZ (Demilitarize Zone) along Route 9 to Khe Sanh. En route pass a series of Fire Support Bases the Rockpile, Da Krong Bridge, as well as the Huong Hoa District headquarters.

Day 6: Khe Sanh - A Luoi - Dong Ha

Tour Khe Sanh Base, a coffee plantation, an old French fort and the Montagnard Village. Continue on Route 9 to Lang Vei Special Forces Camp. Visit the Lao Bao Border town where illicit border trade remains very active. With advanced notice, a border crossing to Laos is possible to follow Operation Lam Son 719, where South Vietnamese soldiers surged in to attack the Liberation Front soldiers strongholds in the neighboring country. Travel to A Luoi and visit the Special Forces camp there. Visit Landing Zone Cunningham, Landing Zone Erskine and Landing Zone Razor. Upon special advanced request continue south to A Sau Valley and infamous Hamburger Hill. Return to Dong Ha this evening.

Day 7: Dong Ha -
Hue
Optional excursion to the ancient tombs of Khai Dinh and Tu Duc and a cruise on the Perfume River. Otherwise, enjoy a free day in pleasant in Hue.   Day 8: Hue - Danang
Leave Hue for Danang, the fourth largest city of Vietnam. Tour the city, recalling the chaos of March 1975, when the Saigon government abandoned Danang and countless refugees fled the city. Also visit the beach where the US Mariners first came ashore, beginning major American involvement in Indochina.

Day 9: Danang - Qui Nhon via
Chu Lai
Morning visit to Hoian. During the 17th century traders stopped at this port when travelling en route to Malacca in Malaysia. Continue on the coastal plain to Chu Lai airbase and see the work of the Sky hawks. Stop at the Son My District, sense of infamous My Lai incident. Travel along the rugged Animate Mountains down to Route 1. Sarcastically referred to as "The Street without joy" by French soldiers. Evening arrive in Qui Nhon, a major port and supply depot that kept Route 1 open during the war.

Day 10: Qui Nhon - Nha Trang
Leave Qui Nhon for Nha Trang, once the headquarters of the US Fifth Special Forces Group in the second Corps.

Day 11: Nha Trang - Dalat
Enjoy the turquoise water and fine sandy beach. Take a boat to nearby Bamboo Island for snorkeling, to the Mieu Island for a visit to a fish breeding farm and to the Cham Ponagar Tower, a fine example of 2nd century Cham architecture. Then, leave Nha Trang for the central highland city of Dalat.

Day 12: Dalat - HCMC

Visit the Valley of Love, the central market, the Lake of Sighs. Travel through the central highlands to Bao Loc, visit silk farms and mulberry plantations. Evening arrive at HCMC, which retains much flavor from the war era.

Day 13: HCMC

Among the sights of graceful women in Ao Dai and bustling streets, visit the busy riverfront, the former Presidential Palace, photo stop at the former US Embassy, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the central market. In the afternoon visit some of the war remnants such as the site where a Buddhist monk immolated himself in protest of the war and the church where Diem was assassinated.

Day 14: HCMC - Iron Triangle - Cu Chi

This morning travel on the National route 13 past the town of Phu Cuong. Visit the Phu Loi Base used to relocate villagers. Through the Cau Dinh jungle, pass a staging area of the 503rd Airborne Brigade. At Ben Cat, see the site of the bases of the 173rd Airborne and the 11th Armored Cavalry Arrive in Ben Suc, the Northern tip of the Iron Triangle, and continue to Dau Tieng Reservoir and the esoteric Cao Dai Temple at Tay Ninh. Visit the restored tunnels at Cu Chi before returning to HCMC.

Day 15: HCMC

Enjoy a free day in HCMC

Day 16: HCMC - Departure

Transfer to airport for departure.   DANANG - HUE - A LUOI
     (5 days/ 4 nights)


Day 1: HCMC-Hoi An
AM: Transfer to airport for flight to Danang. Arrival in Danang and transfer to hotel. PM: Visit to Hoian, Non Nuoc beach, Cham Museum. overnight in Hoian.   Day 2: Hoi An
Visit to former battlefield in Quang Nam and Quang Ngai: Chu Lai base (optional: Cam Doi base, Nui Que base, An Hoa base) and My Lai village. overnight in Hoian.

Day 3: Hoi An -
Hue
Transfer to Hue with stopover at Red beach. PM: Visit to Imperial Citadel, Tu Duc & Khai Dinh tombs. overnight in Hue.

Day 4:
Hue - A Luoi - Hue
Transfer to A Luoi. Visit to A Bia hill (Hamburger hill), Hong Bac tunnels and Ta Oi minority village in A Shaw. Return to and overnight in Hue.

Day 5: Hue - HCMC
AM: One-hour cruise on Perfume river to Thien Mu Pagoda, then visit to Minh Mang Tomb and Dong Ba market by coach. PM: Flight back to
HCMC.   LOC NINH - TAY NINH - VUNG TAU
             (7 days/ 6 nights)

Day 1: Transfer from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCMC. City tour of HCMC (Saigon) including the Reunification Conference Hall (formerly the South Vietnamese Presidential Palace), US Embassy grounds and the War Remnants Museum. Overnight in HCMC.

Day 2: Travel towards the Iron Triangle with a visit to a prosthetics clinic in Thu Duc and tour Long Binh, a former base and today is an industrial park. A dinner cruise on Saigon River. Overnight in HCMC.

Day 3: Drive to Loc Ninh with stop over at Ben Cat, Thu Dau Mot, Song Be with its modern day golf course before crossing into the areas known War Zone D, including An Loc and Loc Ninh. Overnight in Loc Ninh.

Day 4: Proceed towards the areas known War Zone D and Operation Junction City before driving to Tay Ninh. Afternoon explore the Ba Den Mountain. Overnight in Tay Ninh.

Day 5: Tour of the former Michelin Rubber Plantation. Drive to visit Cu Chi underground tunnels. Afternoon return to HCMC. Overnight in HCMC.

Day 6: Full day excursion to Vung Tau and Ba Ria with stop over at R & R, enjoy the beach. Overnight in Vung Tau.

Day 7: Return HCMC. Transfer to airport for departure or begin the next module.   PLEIKU - BUON MA THUOT - NHA TRANG
                 (9days/ 8nights)


Day 1: Transfer from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCMC. City tour of HCMC (Saigon) including the Reunification Conference Hall (formerly the South Vietnamese Presidential Palace), US Embassy grounds and the War Remnants Museum. Overnight in HCMC.

Day 2: Morning drive to Thu Duc, Bien Hoa and Long Binh before departing for the Cu Chi Tunnels. A dinner cruise on the Saigon River. Overnight in HCMC.

Day 3: Fly to Qui Nhon. Travel to Kontum via Highway No.19 with stop over at An Khe and Manyang passes, luncheon in Pleiku with local veteran's representative. Overnight in Kontum.

Day 4: Full day jeep excursion into the areas surrounding Kontum. Overnight in Kontum.

Day 5: Drive to Nhon Hoa Village for an elephant ride exploring the jungles in the proximity of La Drang Valley, hike in the surrounding areas of the ethnic people. Dinner and entertainment with the Montagnards. Overnight in Village Long house.

Day 6: Drive to Buon Ma Thuot, capital of Daklak Province, to explore the areas surrounding the last major battle site of March 1975. Overnight in Buon Ma Thuot.

Day 7: Excursion to Nha Trang via Highway No.21 with stop over at Cham Ponagar Towers, free for exploration in Nha Trang.

Day 8: Day boat trip to Mun Island and enjoy swimming, visit Oceanographic Institute, free time. Overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 9: Departure for USA via HCMC or begin next tour module.   THE 17th PARALLEL
 (10 days/ 9 nights)

Day 1: Arrival at Noi Bai Airport. Meeting and transfer to hotel. Tour of Hanoi: Visit Hoa Lo Prison "Hilton Hotel", War Museum, Temple of Literature. Dinner and overnight in Hanoi

Day 2: Breakfast, transfer to Noi Bai Airport for flight to Danang. Transfer to hotel, visit former US Consulate, War Museum, luncheon. Afternoon visit Nuoc Man heliport (no picture), Marble Mountain, China beach, My Khe beach. Dinner and over night in Danang.

Day 3: Breakfast, drive to Hue. Visit Red beach II, cloudy pass, Old Imperial Citadel, the old battle field of Tet offensive in 1968. Luncheon. Proceed northward, visit street of terror, Quang Tri old ramparts, firing summer 1972, the bloodiest battle filed in Vietnam, ruined church and high-school. Thach Han River, the exchange of P.O.W in 1973, logistic centre in Dong Ha of the 3rd Marine Division. Overnight in Dong Ha.

Day 4: Breakfast. Proceed northward to Mc Namara's electronic barrier, DMZ, 17th parallel, provisional demarcation line, Hien Luong Bridge, Vinh Moc Tunnels, Con Tien fire-base, Camp Carrol fire-base, Rockpile Marine's look out, Khe Sanh combat base, Ta Con airfield, Ho Chi Minh Trail. Travel southward. Dinner and overnight in Danang.

Day 5: Breakfast, drive to Pleiku, central highland. Stop at Chu Lai base (no picture) of the 1st Marine Division, at An Khe Pass of the 1st Cavalry Division. Dinner and overnight in Pleiku.

Day 6: Breakfast. Pleiku to Kontum visit old battles: Darkto, Tan Canh, Ham Rong base, and phoenix airfield, Ben Het. Dinner and overnight in Kontum.

Day 7: Breakfast. Drive back to Pleiku and visit Pleime battle of the 4th Infantry Division. Drive to Qui Nhon. Overnight in Qui Nhon.

Day 8: Breakfast, drive to Danang visit My Son Village massacre in Quang Ngai. Overnight in Danang.

Day 9: Breakfast. Transfer to airport for flight to HCMC. Transfer to hotel. Drive to Iron Triangle to Cu Chi Tunnels. Luncheon. Afternoon: Visit former US Embassy and Reunification Conference Hall. Overnight in HCMC.

Day 10: Breakfast. Transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for departure.    GATE TO SAIGON
(12 days/ 11 nights)
  Day 1: Transfer from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCMC. City tour of HCMC (Saigon) including the Reunification Conference Hall (formerly the South Vietnamese Presidential Palace), US Embassy grounds and the War Remnants Museum. Overnight in HCMC.

Day 2: Early morning departure for Phan Thiet with first stop at Long Binh, by road to former base at Bien Hoa, head Northward to Xuan Loc for lunch. Afternoon visit former Phan Thiet air base. Overnight in Phan Thiet.

Day 3: Departure for Song Mao with stop over at the former MACV headquarters, continue to Song Mao and Tuy Phong, stop at former American adviser compound located. Arriving in Phan Rang, visit Poklong Cham Gia Rai Towers to get a view of the former 1st Brigade base camp and airbase. Overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 4: Enjoy boat trip to Mun Island, fishing village, swimming, city overlooking at Bao Dai Summer Palace. Balance of the day is free. Overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 5: Depart for Tuy Hoa, visit both the airbase north and south of town, short road excursion into the rice paddies and travel up Hill 1283, proceed west on National Road No.1 to the areas of Tuy An, Trung Luong and Dong Tre. In Dong Tre, visit the airstrip and old bunker. Overnight in Qui Nhon.

Day 6: Travel north on Highway No.19 to Pleiku, stop in An Khe to visit the area of Camp Radcliff and the 4th Infantry Division Headquarters. Lunch in Pleiku. By road to Kon Tum with a view at a former US DZ site where some French barracks located. Visit Kon Tum's old wooden church and the orphanage, B12 and B15. Overnight in Kon Tum.

Day 7: Travel to Dak To and Tu Mo Rong, which was the site of a major battle of the 1st Brigade in June 1966 on jeep or land over. Return to Pleiku and depart for Decop Village for an evening of traditional gong music, rice wine and dancing under the stars and around a bonfire with the Balmar Montagnards. Overnight in Pleiku.

Day 8: Early morning hike to visit Dragon Mountain, flight to Danang in the afternoon, visit the Cham Sculpture Museum, Marble Mountain, balance of the day for My Khe beach, the original China beach for a couple of hours. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 9: Travel northward with stop over at Hai Van Pass, Lang Co beach, Phu Bai. Arriving Hue, city tour of Hue including Royal Citadel, Forbidden City, Royal Museum, Thien Mu Pagoda, Tu Duc Mausoleum, and Dong Ba Market. Overnight in Hue.

Day 10: Four wheel drive to explore A Shau and A Luoi Valley, Camp Eagle, Fire-base Birmingham and Fire-base Bastogne. Continue visiting Hong Bac Village, which is located at the base of a 770m hill to have a view to Hamburger hill, following to A Shau valley. Overnight in A Luoi.

Day 11: Travel via Highway No.14 to Khe Sanh for a visit of the combat base, continue traveling by road with stop over at Rockpile, Camp Carrol, DMZ (Demilitarize Zone), the 17th parallel and the Vinh Moc Tunnel, Mc Namara electronic wall, return to Hue with stop at Quang Tri Citadel which is well known in summer 1972. Overnight in Hue.

Day 12: Morning flight back to HCMC or Hanoi, connect flight for the USA or begin the next tour module.
